Corporate Marquees Cornwall

The word "marquee" has it's origins within the British armed forces of 1690 and, as with much of the English language, is heavily influenced by the French who invaded our land during these times. Originally the word represented a linen canopy which would be thrown over a tent to identify it as being the location of the the marquis. The marquis was one rank down from the Duke and it was his duty to guard the frontiers of the kingdom. Whilst this title no longer exists it's use has been passed down and remains in place as a representative of a large, or significant tent.

Perhaps you might not think this is interesting, or even related to the field of corporate marquees in Cornwall, but I always believe it's interesting and important to know the origin of things. OK maybe it's not important in this case, but our language has been infiltrated and influenced so many times that it's useful to know why we use the words and names we do.

In this example corporate marquees and it's origins doesn't teach us all that much, except that some might want to point out the regency in it's origination and it's significance in the battles fought by our Country. For anyone who believed marquees to be the unpopular option when it comes to putting corporate events on, perhaps this will help sway their thoughts somewhat. Or perhaps not, who knows!

Wedding Marquees North Cornwall

When someone says "wedding marquees" to you, what image is conjured up in your mind? Let's pretend your partner or your friend comes to you one evening and says "hey we've been invited to a wedding ... they're having the reception in North Cornwall ... in a marquee"? What do you think? Are you excited, or happy, or would this news cause you to groan, roll your eyes and reach for the diary in hope that you've already got plans for that evening?

There are many misconceptions about hiring wedding marquees; indeed it is an unfortunate fact that the usual trigger response to the suggestion of a marquee is one full of derisory undertones and apprehension. But hiring a wedding marquee is probably nothing like what you would expect. In order to bust the myths I have listed below some common knee-jerk reactions in response to wedding marquees, with a brief explanation as to why these should not be considered true. I should note that the reactions below were found on an internet forum where someone had posed a question in relation to whether or not they should hire a marquee for their wedding reception:

* A marquee means no bar, and a limited choice buffet meal - simply not true. A marquee can be hired to suit any party requirements. A bar operating with pumps and optics can be arranged and installed; whilst catering can be supplied to match any occasion.
* Hiring a wedding marquee means a boring white tent with no character - again, false. It is possible to decorate marquees with wooden floors, chandeliers and the whole decor can be arranged specific to each wedding.
* Won't it be cold/hot inside a tent - No! Whilst you might be aware that tents can be stuffy in the hot summer sun, and a little exposed to the wind and rain during a winter's day, all marquees can be fit with air conditioning or heating, ensuring the right atmosphere for your wedding.
* Won't it be a walk to the toilets? - Toilets (and I mean "proper" indoor toilets) can be attached to the side of a marquee, making it no different than having your reception in a function room.

So these are just a few reasons which might put people off hiring a marquee for their wedding, I am sure that sceptics will find more, but there is no reason why you shouldn't consider hiring one for your special day, as most all objections can be answered. Please feel free to take a look around the rest of the Bumblebees Marquees web site, a company who hire wedding marquees in north cornwall and are proud of their reputation for quality and professionalism.
