Corporate Marquees Cornwall

The word "marquee" has it's origins within the British armed forces of 1690 and, as with much of the English language, is heavily influenced by the French who invaded our land during these times. Originally the word represented a linen canopy which would be thrown over a tent to identify it as being the location of the the marquis. The marquis was one rank down from the Duke and it was his duty to guard the frontiers of the kingdom. Whilst this title no longer exists it's use has been passed down and remains in place as a representative of a large, or significant tent.

Perhaps you might not think this is interesting, or even related to the field of corporate marquees in Cornwall, but I always believe it's interesting and important to know the origin of things. OK maybe it's not important in this case, but our language has been infiltrated and influenced so many times that it's useful to know why we use the words and names we do.

In this example corporate marquees and it's origins doesn't teach us all that much, except that some might want to point out the regency in it's origination and it's significance in the battles fought by our Country. For anyone who believed marquees to be the unpopular option when it comes to putting corporate events on, perhaps this will help sway their thoughts somewhat. Or perhaps not, who knows!
